Thank you for visiting the Health and Hijama website.

"It is the aim of Health and Hijama to strive to play an active role in reviving the Blessed Sunnah of our Prophet, Muhammad (saw) and to continually seek to improve the standard of Hijama treatment and training. This is by no means a short or easy process but in sha Allah it is a long-term achievable reality. NHS employment of Acupuncture therapy is testament to the fact that Traditional Medicine can achieve mainstream acceptance. It took years of effort to bring Acupuncture to the forefront of Complementary Medicine by combining traditional medical practice with modern training, technology and regulation. By remaining content with ‘back room’ Hijama clinics, using sub-standard equipment, having inadequate knowledge and the lack of proper regulation we are doing a saddening disservice to this Sunnah of our Prophet (saw). Aside the contentious NHS in-house training programme the standard and quality of Acupuncture training and equipment has never been better. By accommodating the modern, western training framework whilst all the while remaining faithful to the tradition of it’s roots, the system has truly flourished and has been exposed to the west on a major scale. What better da’wa than this?

The commonly accepted ‘you break it, we fix it’ attitude of western medicine is now being challenged and addressed within mainstream healthcare and we are beginning to see health professionals encouraged to revert back to promoting the idea that ‘an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure’. Traditional systems of medicine have centred around this philosophy for thousands of years by promoting a Holistic, preventative approach to health and wellbeing. When the opportunity presents itself for Traditional Medicine to make a significant revival I really hope, in sha Allah, Hijama won’t be left behind."
